Memo

May 5th, 2012

To whom it may concern,

I use the FIT Library very often coming in about twice a week. I am enrolled in a film lighting corse and we are required to rent many DVDs to see for class. I understand why some movies are only available of one day rentals, so people watch them and bring  them back at a more efficient rate. What I don’t understand is why the one day rentals need to be placed behind the desk, so I can not view the selection. Due to a current study 78% of the student body is upset about this fact, and would would like to see changes be made. I purpose all the DVDs the library has should locationed in one viewable spot where students can rent and enjoy all the movies within the libraries collection. If that is not possible I would then purpose a detailed list on the one day rental movies behind the desk, so that selection is more accessible to the FIT students.

This topic will be further discussed during next week meeting,

 Sincerely,

Beth Zink

Artist Statement Final

Photographs are markings of how we connect to our world. Looking at a photograph we are able to experience others lives, different from our own. Whether this world we find ourselves looking into is magical or horrifying, its the photographers perspective. My own photographic style and perspective have been said to be “direct, honest and humane” (Elinor Carucci.) My works are rooted and intertwined with my past experiences and my hopes for the future.

I am a ambitious, creative person, who is a hard worker and dedicated to my passion. I am a analog portrait photographer, who enjoys the process of making pictures this way. My photographs have taken me on many emotional adventures thus far. I have documented my grandparents love for each other during a time of mourning in a series called “Intertwined.” I have been able to documented my encounters with strangers with various continuous projects. One of which I am photographing people I meet on the street who are buying flowers. I am interested to find out who the flowers are for, photographing them allows me to receive them in a way but recording them.

I am currently in the beginning stages of my senior thesis project. I am eager to start making pictures and documenting all the boys I have ever liked. this series of a environmental portrait of each boy at a location significant to our relationship during the time I liked him. I plan on learning a lot about my ideas of love, how it grows and forms based on age, place, history and connections. I am dedicated to making this work and looking forward to the photographs which will mark these experience.
